Prince Andrew’s royal downgrade is official – and messy.
After renouncing his Duke of York title on October 17, the royal family’s website lagged behind, still listing him under the name Queen Elizabeth II gave him in 1986. It now identifies him simply as “Prince Andrew,” though one line still reads, “The Duke of York’s active service with the Royal Navy spanned 22 years.”
“In discussion with The King … we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty,” Andrew said, adding he’ll no longer use his title or honors.
The decision reportedly came after King Charles hit a “tipping point” – and just as Virginia Giuffre’s bombshell memoir Nobody’s Girl accused the “entitled” royal of thinking s-- with her was “his birthright.”
