Teyana Taylor at the 2026 BET Awards

MARIA MOLINO: I think she is so beautiful, but I’m a little confused with this gown. It’s giving a slight Romeo & Juliet vibe, but at the same time it has these odd jeweled modern-type geometric accents. It is throwing off my senses. I could have done without the crown, as it looks like some sort-of head injury deterrent. The gown is pretty, although I would ditch the rectangular detail and just leave it plain.

REBECCA FRIEDMAN: Teyana Taylor rarely misses on the red carpet – and this burgundy gown is no exception. The sculptural silhouette delivers major drama, while the coordinating headpiece adds a regal, editorial edge that leans into her signature fearless fashion moments. That said, the embellished bodice panel does feel slightly busy against an already statement-making design, and overall, the look edges just a touch into overdone territory. Still, it’s a bold BET Awards red carpet moment that’s impossible to ignore.
