Ozzy Osbourne’s final project before his death was as delightfully unhinged as the Prince of Darkness himself – teaming up with painting chimpanzees to create his last art collection.
Unveiled during Miami Art Week, the project featured abstract canvases Ozzy began before his July 22 passing, with the chimps at Save The Chimps adding their own strokes. The priciest piece, “Paranoid,” sold for $18,000, and five originals pulled in $75,000.
“I paint because it gives me peace of mind, but I don’t sell my paintings,” Ozzy once said, making an exception to raise money for the sanctuary. Sharon Osbourne praised him for supporting the chimps “during his last months,” and revealed she struggled to sleep alone after his death, with daughter Kelly stepping in.
Kelly admitted mornings are brutal: “I wake up… and then I remember everything.” Ozzy’s gone – but even his goodbye was bananas.
