Donald Trump may apparently have to pay for something most husbands get for free: his wife showing up.
Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Matthews claims it was a “known thing” inside Trumpworld that Melania Trump received money for appearances alongside her husband during his political campaigns.
Matthews said she worked for Trump for a year on the campaign and another seven months inside the White House without ever meeting the First Lady. She pointed to previous financial disclosures showing Melania received $237,500 for one 2024 political appearance and called the arrangement “crazy.”
“She was just not around, and she didn’t want to be around,” Matthews alleged, claiming Melania preferred New York and doing “her own thing.” She also questioned whether the First Lady’s recent return to public view had anything to do with the attention surrounding Trump aide Natalie Harp.
Melania ended a 32-day public absence last week and appeared beside her husband again at Sunday’s Freedom 250 Grand Prix. If Matthews is right, the mystery may not simply be where Melania has been — but what it costs to get her there.
Jimmy Kimmel Says His Kids See Trump as Their Dad’s ‘Villain’
Donald Trump has apparently achieved supervillain status inside Jimmy Kimmel’s house.
Jimmy Kimmel and wife Molly McNearney revealed their two young children are fully aware of the president’s long-running hostility toward their father — and have come to understand Trump as the family’s personal bad guy.
The couple recalled having to explain why photographers and helicopters had descended on their home after Jimmy Kimmel Live! was temporarily suspended. Their children immediately asked: “Is this Donald Trump’s fault?” Kimmel and McNearney told them their dad and his show were “on the right side of history.”
Their kids now apparently view Trump as something approaching an Austin Powers-style villain. The political drama became considerably less funny when their daughter Jane feared her father could lose his job and tearfully offered: “I can sell my LEGO blocks to help.”
Kimmel has spent years making Trump the punchline. At home, his children have apparently worked out who they think the villain of the story is.
Megyn Kelly Blasts Hayden’s ‘Bizarre’ Mom Over Post-Death Interviews
Megyn Kelly’s war with Hayden Panettiere’s mother just got nastier.
Megyn Kelly tore into Lesley Vogel after the late actress’ estranged mother began giving interviews following Panettiere’s death, declaring: “Her bizarre mother is now giving interviews, and I’m sorry, but she seems even more disturbed than we knew.”
Vogel recently pushed back against criticism from Kelly and Gayle King and disputed an account in Panettiere’s memoir in which the actress claimed her mother told her “you owe me” when she wanted to fire Vogel as her manager at 19.
Kelly isn’t buying the denial. “Guess what? I believe your daughter,” she fired back, accusing Vogel of treating Panettiere as a “cash cow” and blaming her for putting the actress into the entertainment industry as a child.
Panettiere died August 16 at 36 following a suspected overdose and cardiac arrest. Eight days later, the public battle over who failed her in life is becoming almost as bitter as the questions surrounding her death.
