New reports reveal the 32-year-old was placed in a mental health conservatorship in 2020, five years before allegedly killing his famous parents, Rob and Michele Reiner. Court records show the conservatorship followed involuntary psychiatric hospitalization, with Reiner previously diagnosed with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder. A former conservator called the situation “a horrible tragedy,” while a documentary claims a medication change shortly before the killings sent him into a “spiral.”
An insider alleged that, before the murders, “Nick had a complete break from reality.” Rob Reiner had previously insisted he was deeply involved in his son’s recovery, saying, “I was more hands-on and trying to do whatever I thought I could do to help,” adding Nick was in “a really good place.”
