FULL INTERVIEW: Model Tyra Banks Gets Her 'Confidence' From Her 'Mama' — But Says 'It's OK to Admit We Have Insecurities'
And how she handled her 'hot ice cream' going mega-viral.
Supermodel, entrepreneur, and media powerhouse Tyra Banks is building her boldest chapter yet – and it’s sweeter than ever.
Sitting down with OK! Editor-in-Chief JACLYN ROTH while hosting the U.S.’ “First Taste” viral Hot Ice Cream and Santa SMiZE video tease party in NYC, Banks opened up about launching SMiZE & DREAM Ice Cream – the buzzed-about “hot ice cream” concept designed to support a seasonal industry and turn a simple treat into something transformative.
She spoke candidly about stepping away from powerhouse brand partnerships to become a self-funded solo entrepreneur, mapping out a future that blends food, entertainment, and impact, and revealed how the confidence instilled in her by her mother continues to shape how she takes risks. This is one you don’t want want to miss.
JACLYN: SMiZE & DREAM Ice Cream is such an exciting new chapter for you – what’s it been like being here today?
TYRA: I’m straight off a plane from Sydney, Australia. Literally straight off the plane. I’m actually wearing a designer named Camilla, so I’m excited right now. Hot ice cream is something I thought of about a year and a half ago because people aren’t really eating ice cream in the winter. Ice cream shops slow down or close, but they’re still paying rent until spring, and some go out of business. I wanted to create something that raises the entire industry. So we created hot ice cream – and who knew it would go viral?
JACLYN: What was that moment like for you?
