Kai Trump is opening up like never before.

In an exclusive interview with OK!’s Editor-in-Chief Jaclyn Roth, Donald Trump's granddaughter gets candid about the emotional toll of her mom Vanessa Trump's breast cancer battle, revealing how she stood by her side through every treatment and helped keep her spirits up.

But the 19-year-old has been fighting through struggles of her own, including two wrist surgeries that threatened her golf dreams. Now, with her mom cancer-free and her sights set on a comeback, Kai is sharing how she's juggling college life, social media fame and her determination to come back stronger than ever.

JACLYN: I heard you were visiting cancer patients in light of your mom’s experience. What motivated you to go, and what was it like?

KAI: Yeah. So I went this morning, actually. I took an exam, and then I went over to the Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami. My mom came down as well, which was really nice. We went down together. We met with a few patients and some of the doctors at Sylvester.

It was amazing because I saw my mom’s whole cancer journey and stuff like that, and it meant a lot to me because I’ve seen someone with cancer go through it. So hearing the patients’ stories and how they’ve overcome it, and now that they’re in remission, and the different treatments...

One thing I’ve learned, especially about breast cancer, is that every single treatment and every kind of cancer is very different. It’s very different how you go about it, and obviously other patients may react in different ways to some of the treatments. So it’s very interesting seeing the different ways that these doctors may plan to treat patients and all the different ways that breast cancer can get treated, because there’s a ton of different breast cancers out there. It was really special to go there with my mom.

JACLYN: Having seen your mom go through cancer, what was it like meeting patients and offering them hope?

KAI: Yeah. you never really understand cancer, I guess, until you either have it personally – and luckily, I’m very lucky I haven’t had it – or you have a family member or really close friend who has had it. And I think when my mom found out, obviously, you don’t want your mom to have any sort of cancer, or really anyone near you, or anyone in general, to have cancer.

It was a very emotional thing. The whole journey is very emotional. I mean, like you said, your dad had it, so I’m sure it was a very emotional thing for your whole family. And obviously, I’m very thankful that she’s cancer-free. She just announced that in our YouTube video last week.

But it’s a very emotional thing, and I also think just being there to support a friend or family member who has it, and really taking the time out of your day to spend time with them and make sure they feel loved and cared for, is important.

JACLYN: How is your mom doing now that she’s cancer-free?
