EXCLUSIVE: Inside Paul McCartney's Mission to Censor 'Embarrassing' Footage From New Film on His Stormy Post-Beatles Life
He reportedly cringed at the footage – but was told it had to stay in.
Sir Paul McCartney tried to snip the “embarrassing” bits from his new documentary before anyone could see them.
But the former Beatle was overruled – with insiders insisting the cringe-worthy footage was too juicy (and too honest) to leave on the cutting-room floor.
McCartney, 83, opens up in the Prime Video film about rebuilding his career in the 1970s after The Beatles split in 1970.
Directed by Morgan Neville, the documentary chronicles the formation of Wings, the critical drubbing that followed, and the eventual triumph of albums including Band on the Run.
Featuring rare home footage and studio outtakes, the film captures the uncertainty and experimentation that defined McCartney’s life after the world’s biggest band imploded.
