The pop star’s latest brush with the law could come with serious consequences – including losing her driver’s license – according to Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Christopher Chaney.
“If the case is filed as a first-offense misdemeanor DUI (no injuries involved and no prior DUI history), potential penalties include fines, DUI education classes, probation, and some form of driver’s license suspension or restriction through the DMV,” Chaney exclusively told OK!. “Penalties can increase if there were any aggravating factors…”
Spears was arrested March 4 in Ventura County after police allegedly spotted her swerving and speeding – with an unknown substance also found in her vehicle. Her reported BAC was .06, below the state’s .08 limit. Now prosecutors – and the DMV – will decide her fate.
For Brit, the real question isn’t just what happens in court… it’s whether she’ll still be allowed behind the wheel.
