EXCLUSIVE: Brazen Andrew Windsor's Latest Demand from King Charles 'Could Cost the Taxpayer Millions'
The disgraced royal argues the allegations stem from work carried out for the state — and insists the Crown should pay the potentially staggering cost of defending him
Andrew Windsor is pressing King Charles to help cover what insiders say could be a multi-million-dollar legal bill as the fallen ex-Duke of York prepares to fight allegations connected to his time in public office.
Shamed Andrew, 66, was arrested last month at his home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office linked to his role as the United Kingdom’s trade envoy between 2001 and 2011.
The former prince was taken from Marsh Farm to a local police station before being released pending further investigation.
Hours later, King Charles, 77, issued a public statement promising authorities would receive his full cooperation and adding “the law must take its course.”
But behind palace walls, sources say Andrew has reacted furiously – and is now pressing the monarch to fund his legal defense if the investigation proceeds toward a trial.
