A Houston ICE agent is under investigation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly running over 48-year-old Miguel Parra Hernandez on October 11.
Surveillance footage reportedly shows an ICE vehicle turning toward Hernandez as he flees on foot. ICE claimed, “Miguel Parra Hernandez ran in front of an ICE vehicle and was struck.”
But immigrant rights advocates called the incident a “violent and brutal” attack. Hernandez suffered serious leg injuries, requiring surgery and additional procedures.
Activists are also outraged that he remains in the custody of the agency whose agents allegedly struck him. Harris County’s district attorney is reviewing the footage as ICE conducts its own investigation.
